Synopsis

Medical reports threatened Gail McWilliams' dreams for marriage, children, and a fulfilled life. Her struggle for genuine faith shaped a woman of hope. Reading Seeing Beyond will remain a precious and life-changing memory for me! God used Gail’s most personal and intimate life story to bless and encourage me in a profound way. Gail wrote in such a piercing and thought-provoking manner that caused me to frequently pause and consider what God was saying to me, and how He wanted to apply His Word to my life. I found that I would sit her book down and ponder God’s Word for days before picking the book back up again. It was a book that I wanted to take my time reading, because I wanted to savor those precious moments I had with God as I read it! Gail’s knowledge of God’s Word, the Holy Bible, was heavily and beautifully woven throughout her story, which made Seeing Beyond one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read! Her words would stop me and take me to the Lord in prayer many times throughout my reading of her story. Perhaps my favorite chapter was Chapter 15, “Seeing Beyond Religion”. Gail writes, “If only I had known more clearly who I was in Christ, then so many hurtful statements by unknowing Christians would not have injured me.” As I read those words, I was brought to tears as I considered that perhaps “if only I had known more clearly who I was in Christ” much sooner, then maybe I wouldn’t have hurt others so badly in my past. God used that moment to draw me closer to Him and allow me to accept His forgiveness of my past failures. When Gail said that God’s Word had become her medicine, I realized that it was God’s perfect timing of His scriptures laced throughout her book that had been perfectly timed for my reading it.
